Our history

Located in Kalamata, in the heart of one of the richest agricultural areas in Greece, Dogma Gourmet is a food trading company created in order to share worldwide our strong passion for premium extra virgin olive oil and other agricultural products.

Cultivating “Koroneiki” variety olives for more than 3 generations in our family orchards, we decided that it was the right time to take a step forward and start bottling our own olive oil, combining legacy, tradition and expertise. As a result, “ΔOGMA” was born, a premium quality monovarietal EVOO that fulfils the highest demands of the market through its exceptional quality and design.

Moreover, having in our crew high experienced people in agricultural and food sciences, but also in food service and culinary market, we extended our brand “ΔOGMA” to other products such as table olives, balsamic vinegar, honey, oregano and aromatic herbs, through selected suppliers and farmers based mainly in the region of Messinia – Southern Greece.

The Brand

About us

Our name ΔOGMA (dogma) derives from the Greek word “δόγμα” (that which seems to one, opinion or belief), which in turn derives from “δοκέω” (to think, to suppose, to imagine). While used to describe a principle or set of principles laid down by someone as incontrovertibly true, the term “dogma” represents our strong commitment and dedication to sustainable agriculture and top quality produce, implementing the highest level of safety and environmental standards across all stages of production, coming through every single aspect of our business.

From products that delight the senses with amazing tastes, scents and textures, to our commitment to exceptional customer service and market demands, we welcome you to be a part of our “ΔΟΓΜΑ”.

Koroneiki Variety

Kalamata is unique to Greece as it generates some of the finest extra virgin olive oil in the world primarily from one type of olive; the regal, smaller variety of olive known by its botanical name “Koroneiki”. Koroneiki variety is considered among specialists, the king of oil producing olive trees. The olives are harvested when they are still green in order to ensure the title of “early picked” or “green” olive oils and are mainly present in the south Peloponnese and in some areas of Crete.

What sets the Koroneiki apart when referring to the seed and the olive oil produced is the unique method of farming. What it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. These olives yield approximately 6 to 7 litres of the best olive oil which is golden-green in colour and is highly acclaimed for its fruity and fresh flavour.

Our Orchards

Located around the city of Kalamata in Messinia region of Southern Greece, our olive orchards have passed to the third generation of cultivation by our family members, transferring in parallel every single aspect related to olive growing traditional techniques. Moreover, in combination with the continuous supervision by father (Agronomist) and son (Food Scientist), our orchards have been cultivating under Integrated Crop Management methods for more than a decade, achieving the highest level of quality, safety and environmental management demands.

Integrated Crop Management is an alternative (non-conventional) production method that is environmentally friendly.
According to this method, producers drastically reduce the use of chemicals and the unchecked implementation of cultivation interventions, aiming at safeguarding consumer health and protecting the environment. Farmers who use this system must follow specific production rules and keep records of the practices they have implemented.

The implementation of the Integrated Management System achieves:

  • Organisation of the agricultural holding by scheduling production.
  • Control of all stages of the productive process.
  • Continuous education and training of producers.
  • Reduction of production costs thanks to the rational use of water, fertilizer, etc.
  • Protection of the environment.
  • Protection of the health of producers and consumers.
  • Production of high quality, safe and competitive products.
  • Greater penetration into the olive oil markets, provided the final product receives the relevant certification.

Producers who implement an integrated management system can receive relevant certification according to the AGRO 2-1 and AGRO 2-2 standards. This certification is awarded by competent agencies recognized by AGROCERT, the Greek national accreditation organization.
